There may be times when you feel that you need extra help to cope with a difficult situation or particular problem you are experiencing. Maybe the demands of daily life are getting you down, perhaps you are struggling with an issue you seem unable to resolve yourself. That's where counselling might be able to help.
"Are you dealing with issues such as Loss and Bereavement, Relationship Difficulties, Stress, Anxiety, Abuse, Self-Esteem, Alcohol and Drug Misuse, Life Changes, Health Problems, Panic Attacks, Depression, Conflict Management, Lack of Confidence, Self-Awareness, Personal or Family Crisis"
Often known as the 'talking cure' Counselling is different from other forms of help because it focuses on enabling you to clarify the issues you are toubled about. Exploring these issues, in private, with someone who is trained to listen can help you consider and understand your thoughts and feelings.
"Counselling can help increase your confidence and self-esteeem"
Often associated with times of personal crisis Counselling is a positive process that can help you explore life's many challenges, from job or house moves, marriage, divorce, becoming a widow/er, ending a relationship, having children, struggling with your sexual identity.
"Counselling does involve talking about painful or difficult issues, but it is a very effective way of helping you to find your own solutions and answers, helping you realise and develop your own potential."
Underpinned by unconditional respect for your individual experiences and abilities Counselling supports my belief that every person is unique and therefore posseses different ways of responding to and resolving life's many challenges. It is not my place to judge or criticise you, my purpose is to support and walk with you on your own journey of self discovery.
"Let Sonia Yeandle help you discover your own strengths and inner resources whilst working towards leading a happier, more effective life"
Whatever is discussed in the counselling room is private and confidential between you and the Counsellor. However I am governed by and adhere to the BACP's Ethical Framework so there may be times when I have to make the decision to break confidentiality, for example if I feel that you are in danger of causing serious harm to yourself or someone close to you. However, please be reassured that if I feel this is necessary then I will endeavour to discuss my intentions with you.
"Counselling can help you gain greater understanding of yourself and your difficulties"
Requiring a committment from both participants Counselling doesn't offer a magic wand solution but is a journey of exploration that Counsellor and Client take together in order to find the most suitable way for you to resolve your individual issues. A journey well worth undertaking.
